Another Blackberry Storm OS 5.0.0.230 Leak?

The OS hybrid expert, Lyricidal, has taken the past .230 leak and repackaged it. He's made his "version" much more complete. From his previous works, I would suggest using this .230 package above anyone else's.

- Lyricidal's Blackberry Storm 9530 OS 5.0.0.230 Package

Was this .230 leak, well, really a leak? Some have speculated that this was merely a hybrid made to look like an OS leak. They are saying this because of the method in which you have to install this new OS. From the method to install .230 it would seem likely that it could simply be a hybrid masked as an OS leak. Guess we'll never truly know, but at least you can enjoy your camera now along with flick scrolling, threaded sms, and an easier dialing system. We still have yet to confirm what apps work with this new "OS"...namely, BBM 5.0, but we'll keep you updated.

Blackberry Bold 9700 Gets a T-Mobile Date

It was unofficially announced today that the launch date for the Blackberry Bold (Onyx) 9700 to T-Mobile will be November 11th 2009.

Blackberry Storm OS 5.0.0.230 Leaked!

The guys at BBos have found OS 5.0.0.230 for the Blackberry Storm 9530! However, there is a catch. Apparently, RIM wanted to make it extra hard, if not "impossible", for us berry addicts to install the OS. They decided to remove the .exe file, which is what flawlessly launches and installs the OS to the Desktop Manager's AppLoader. Luckily, BBCrackman was able to finangle a way to make it work:
1. If you did not already, install 5.0.0.191 onto your computer. - AFTER INSTALL, REMOVE QUINCY/RIM TOOLS - Click here to download 5.0.0.191
2. Run the installer for the 5.0.0.230.
3. You will want to select the 5.0.0.191 folder as the destination folder to write to. This destination may be different for some but the majority will be located at :
c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\loader files\9530AMEA_v5.0.0.191_p4.2.0.43
4. Then hit next and it will 'confirm' your destination folder, then you hit next and the files will be copied into that folder.
5. Then run Apploader and you are done! I did notice that the "connecting to device" phase took a while.

Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac Arriving September 25th?

BGR has reported that the official date for the launch of the Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac is September 25th. The leaked version of the software works perfectly, so we don't find this hard to believe. RIM originally announced it and then pulled it. Not entirely sure what the reasoning behind setting the release date back, but we hope our Mac users will be happy soon.

Verizon Thumbs Up OS 5.0.0.212 for Storm 2?

According to BBOS they had this to say about the Storm 2's OS:
It has been confirmed by our "ninja" that Verizon has approved OS 5.0.0.212 for the Storm 2. There may be a little few tweaks that RIM will enhance but .212 has been approved. Now that we know which OS will be used with the Storm 2, when is Verizon planning on releasing this phone? According to our ninja, they want to get it out by the end of September or the third week in October at the latest. Don't you think Verizon would hype this up and/or have some advertisements about it? Our Ninja informed us that they are not wanting to make the same mistake as they did last year with the 1st Storm. Hype it up and have the phone get a lot of negative feedback and have it be a flop. So hopefully with in 30 days, we will be seeing the Storm 2!!
I'm really excited about this device. Our insider told us the first week of October, so we're sticking with this date. Hope it arrives soon, we're getting impatient.

Coolness Takes a Back Seat to Security

Apple has become a major player in the smartphone market. They have successfully created a product that has drawn as crazy a following as Woodstock. Despite its relative popularity, the iPhone has become the topic of a heated debate over its many newly revealed security flaws.

Details of the flaws were first released to the public at the BlackHat security conference in Las Vegas. Here the security researchers, Charlie Miller and Collin Mulliner, discussed the ability of a hacker to send malicious code through SMS, which could potentially sever the iPhone's functions completely. Thus, allowing the hacker to gain complete control over the device. They initially told Apple how to fix the flaws. However, until the flaws were made public, Apple chose to disregard their concerns.

Reports are now coming in that the latest OS 3.0.1 update that was released last week has completely booted the iPhone off of  Exchange 2007 servers. Exchange 2007 requires on-device data to be encrypted, which is standard safeguard used by businesses. It has been suggested that the new OS update is the cause for rendering the iPhone incompatible. This recent slip-up in the latest OS update proves that the iPhone's OS is not running in an encrypted environment. The iPhone is NOT a business machine, as it was promoted.
The iPhone is taking a step back in the "coolness" department of the office. With the arrival of the Blackberry Storm 2, the iPhone's only true opponent, Blackberry will soon topple the iPhone 'fad'. More and more mobile users  and business profressionals are getting concerned over the security of their personal photos, e-mails, phone call logs, etc. The threat of hackers possibly infiltrating your mobile is ever more real today, and cannot be met with only a flashy screen or sleek design. Security must be a standard, or your entire facade will become a rotten apple.

16 New Blackberry's in 2010?

According to Alejandro Salomon, the new popular Blackberry ninja, that has been leaking many videos of upcoming devices, had this to say:
1) Blackberry Essex:
It's a 3G/CDMA/WiFi new version of the already released Blackberry Tour. Aside from the WiFi it comes with a Trackpad and a little "extra surprise" that I bet you'll love.

2) Blackberry 9100 A.K.A. Striker:
This one is a 3G + Trackpad blackberry pearl. Aside from those two new and nice new features, its slimmer than the upcoming 9700 (Bold 2) which will give the phone that sexier look.

3) Blackberry Curve 8530:
Just like the already released 8520, this one is just a curve, but for CDMA carriers. Expect it to be announced really soon.

That's it for now, and unfortunately I don't have any pictures of them, but I'm working on it. As soon as I get pics, you guys will be the first ones to know.

Also, rumor has it that RIM is releasing 16 new phones in 2010.
It will be pretty interesting to see the next line-up of Blackberry devices. We already know of a few other codenames (i.e. Blackhawk) and when others get leaked we will be sure to let you know.

Blackberry Storm 9530 OS 5.0.0.230 Leaking Soon?

According to the image above it appears that OS 5.0.0.230 for the Blackberry Storm 9530 is in the wild. This is GREAT news for Storm users of the previous .191 build. We're hoping the .230 build will allow you to use your camera, and will include the previous functions from .191, such as flick scrolling and threaded SMS. We're also hoping it may be compatible with Blackberry Messenger 5.0.0.8, but we doubt it, and hope BBM 5.0.0.19 will leak soon. Nevertheless, once OS 5.0.0.230 is leaked, we will throw it on our servers for you to download. Stay tuned!

Blackberry Tour 9630 Without Camera

Sprint is releasing a Blackberry Tour 9630 without a camera. This will be great for government agencies, who handle sensitive materials that they don't want images taken of, or other larger enterprises, who don't want their employees taking pictures for some obvious reasons. This phone will be a great tool to keep employees of corporations or government agencies in touch with work, and limited "social" contact.
