Microsoft Tag BlackBerry App Now Out of Beta

Over a year ago there was a lot of buzz going around about a new barcode scanning technology that Microsoft had been working on. They released a beta version of what is called Tag, which needless to say was a very buggy application. However, Microsoft is proud to announce that Tag has come out of beta and that they've included a few new upgrades:

  • device ID feature will allow marketers to deliver a more personalized consumer experience across multiple Tags. For example, consumers can now receive customized content, such as a coupon or other offer from a retail outlet, based on Tags they’ve previously scanned
  • A new .tag file format will make it easier to print and manage a large number of different Tags as part of a broad campaign deployment. Developers of professional printing programs can now generate the Tag graphic on the fly as part of their solution
  • Tag has always been available worldwide and has been distributed and deployed globally. We have added localization in five new languages which include: French, Spanish, Turkish, Simplified Chinese, Italian
  • And finally, we will be introducing a beta Heat Map feature in the next few days, available in the Tag Campaign Manager, that will help companies better measure Tag usage by location and make more informed decisions about their Tag campaigns and overall marketing spend
Microsoft Tag could be a very useful and fun app. Have you tried it before when it was in beta? To download and read more info check out the Microsoft Tag website.

RIM to Hold Exclusive BlackBerry Event on June 16

Apparently, on Wednesday, June 16th at 5pm EST Research In Motion will be hosting an exclusive BlackBerry event in New York City. The event seems to be primarily about App World, with speculations that we could see App World 2.0 announced. If so, it will be interesting to see a revamped App World, possibly complimentary of BlackBerry 6.

OTA Upgrade to OS 5.0.0.714 for T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700 Users?

Users are reporting that T-Mobile is pushing an over-the-air (OTA) update for select BlackBerry Bold 9700 users. The update seems to only be working on those running the last official OS from T-Mobile, which is OS 5.0.0.586. Once updated, users have reported it upgraded their Bold 9700 to OS 5.0.0.714! Normally, OTA upgrades are more of a "patch" for an error they might have found in the last official OS. Either way, this could be very helpful for any T-Mobile Bold 9700 user. Has this happened to you?

Aintair Spam Filter Review

Everyone inadvertently give their email address publicly, or to register for the site that will send you the weight of spam. As far as when we receive emails only from your PC - no big problem with this - both mailboxes, as well as programs like Outlook, offer us advanced filtering unwanted mail. In the case of BlackBerry, the situation unfortunately is not so simple - message filters can be set only on the BIS, and even their usefulness is pretty much limited, in addition, everything goes straight to your phone ...

We are told this is the first device to release with BlackBerry 6 and also have heard rumors of it going to Sprint, eventually.

At first the Slider was not well received, but with more and more information, pictures, video being leaked people seem to have a change of heart. Do you like the Slider?
