Survey Shows BlackBerry Users 40% Likely to Switch to iPhone

There is a survey, conducted by Crowd Science, which shows that BlackBerry users are 40% likely to switch to the Apple iPhone. However, some are calling out the methodology used in conducting the survey, claiming they should rule the findings irrelevant.

The survey asked 1,040 smarthphone users which phone they would buy tomorrow. iPhone and Android users said they would stick with their current phone, 9 out of 10 times. While BlackBerry users said they would switch.

"These results show that the restlessness of BlackBerry users with their current brand hasn't just been driven by the allure of iPhone," Crowd Science CEO John Martin said in a statement. "Rather, Blackberry as a brand just isn't garnering the loyalty seen with other mobile operating systems."


Avi Greengart, research director for mobile products at Current Analysis, is saying the survey has incorrectly obtained data. Greengart says that the researchers [Crowd Science] asked smartphone users if they would buy an iPhone, Android phone or "other smartphone." Crowd Science did not explicitly name Research In Motion's BlackBerry phone as they did the iPhone and Android.
