Verizon BlackBerry Tour 9630 Not Working Well? Get a Certified Like-New Bold 9650!


One of our Verizon ninjas let us in on a little secret. Remember that recent OS update we saw the other day for the BlackBerry Tour 9630? The OS 5.0.0.732 update, which was basically a patch, actually brought more issues than fixes.


RIM is supposedly scrambling to get the OS bugs fixed. Until then, its being told unofficially to Verizon tech support reps to walk customers through the troubleshooting process. If the problem cannot be fixed we're told the rep will likely send out a certified like-new Bold 9650, since it has the same battery and charger!

It isn't clear how long this will on. Most likely until Verizon approves a new OS release for the Tour 9630. So, if you're experiencing problems now with your Tour 9630 because of the last OS update, you may just want to give Big Red a call. Are you experiencing issues with the .732 OS?

I've upgraded 3 phones to this release and no issues so far. The browser click issue, which was a catastrophic bug in the prior official release, is fixed. Any idea what new issues people are having?

Just got off the phone with verizon their replacement tours are currently out of stock. Told me they will call me back tomorrow and if it is still out of stock they will send me the most comparable phone to the tour.

I called in this afternoon. They had me follow their troubleshooting procedures to satisfaction and decided to sent me a replacement, They never mentioned a different device. Since its Friday evening, it ships on Monday. Unfortunately, I think I will be getting a Tour.

I just got a replacement tour in the mail today. My tour started acting up last weekend, coincidentally right after the OS upgrade. My new phone is displaying the same problem in that it keeps rebooting on its own. I'm quite literally fed up with this problem. I'm going to demand a Bold.

Just talked vz and they are replacing my tour with BOLD. My trackball and my bluetooth wasn't working.
