Research In Motion Purchases BlackPad.com!

Wow! This makes for a very, very interesting day. RIM has in fact purchased the domain name BlackPad.com! When we told you first that there was going to be a BlackBerry tablet we were told it was called the 'BlackPad'.

Many people thought the name we presented was bogus or just a codename. While it still isn't official, it makes for an interesting thought that the upcoming BlackBerry tablet could definitely be called the 'BlackPad'.

What do you think of the name? Hate it, love it? Check the WhoIs here.

This sure is promising! I hope they release one with 3G and not that expensive like that damn iPad.

i hope also that its not uber expensive, although id be supprised if the target market is the same as the ipad.

what i dont get though is why did RIM buy it? why not get some subsidary or whatever to get it, much like apple and other large corpos do, doesnt make sense to shout about it like that

This is too big a market for BB to not get into. It could be only a few years and practically all students from (Grade 9 and up) will have one of these. The OS and other issues will be developed quickly and they will be positioned for the wave of purchases... I would think.
