BlackBerry Storm 9570 Gets a Closer Look

From what you can see the upcoming BlackBerry Storm 9570 will definitely look identical to the current Storm2 9520/9550 form factor. Like the Bold 9780, the BlackBerry Storm 9570 will merely receive internal upgrades so that it can efficiently handle OS 6.

The main reason that the original Storm2 won't receive OS 6 is primarily due to the touchscreen sucking up too much memory with OS 6. The base 256mb RAM on the Storm2 simply wasn't strong enough. Therefore, the refresh model (9570) was necessary to get a Storm device that could run OS 6.

The Storm 9570 will not be thinner than the original Storm2. Literally, just about everything about the 9570 will be the same as the Storm2, even down to the battery. The battery on the Storm 9570 will still be the DX-1. Any current or past Storm2 owners know that the battery life isn't great. We're hoping that with upgraded memory, processor, and OS 6 that the battery life will be better, considering RIM left in the same old battery.

I like to dis Apple for their arrogance, but at least the 3GS had real improvements compared to the 3G. I bet ya that despite the memory improvmens it still does not allow installing apps on the external memory......

i bet it has the faster processor, you know the one thats faster than the 3gs's?

They're going to market it as the BlackBerry Storm 3G (which is Odin Refresh or 2.5, whatever you want to call it) and then they'll go to BlackBerry Storm 3 by calling it Storm 4G and that'll be the major upgrade. I have the Storm 1 so I'll be upgrading to this because I love my BlackBerry and the messaging/communications aspect can't be beat.

I am also a Storm 1 owner and planning on upgrading to _something_ by Thanksgiving.

I had heard this new Storm would also include WiFi (Storm 2 has) and Mobile Hotspot. Those features, along with OS6 will be worth a serious look. However, like another poster, I'm currently leaning towards the Droid Pro (again, pending its release and what it brings to the table).

how does one move icons in this... I remember seeing someone moving the icons only via the trackpad because you can't move the icons using your fingers on the touch screen device - will that be updated to work on the storm 2.5 (3G) version?

i have the storm 1 and hate it and just got the iphone 4 .... Why would anyone want a Blackberry storm again? you have to upgrade the hardware to be able to upgrade the OS? How lame. Glad I can toss my BB finally!!

Thomas just use your search engin on the home computer and type your question in. This is what I done its real simple you hit the blackberry button and select move, you will see what I'm talking about. The only thing about it depending on where you move the icon it will rotate the other icons in front of it. I'm a dummy and got it done.
